ABOUT OTS
Opportunities To Success (OTS) is a hub for thinking, sharing and discussing all elements of success for young black men. The OTS website team will strive to present all these elements to you in the form of blogs, interviews, video’s and any other means we have to hand!
About Oportunities To Success
Opportunities To Success (OTS) is a hub for thinking, sharing and discussing all elements of success and most importantly examining how these common factors can present opportunities to recreate similar heights.
Definition of Success
i) the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.
ii) the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.
iii) a successful performance or achievement.
iv) a person or thing that is successful.
Although not an exact science, it appears there are common threads when examining success stories and that’s where OTS comes into the picture. The OTS website team will strive to present all these elements to you in the form of blogs, interviews, video’s and any other means we have to hand!
How did OTS come into existence?
OTS is a project of The Njoya Foundation originally set up as a careers event. The first OTS event in November 2008 showcased career opportunities and successful Black Males across industry sectors. The event focused on being interactive and practical, using presentations and discussions in a relaxed environment.
Based on the positive feedback and suggestions we received after the event, it was clear that there was a high demand for a continuous source of such interactions, leading to the creation of the OTS website.
Why do we focus on young black men?
We believe that young black men are most likely to suffer from a lack of exposure to all the opportunities they may want to take advantage of. Because of that, we focus our attention on stimulating and exploring possibilities to help change attitudes. This doesn’t mean that we exclude young black women, on the contrary, most of our content should be relevant to all genders, and we invite men and women of all ages to participate in helping us achieve our aims.
The Njoya Foundation
The Njoya foundation is a charity set up in October 2005 in honour of Christian Njoya Diawara Small who died on the 7th July 2005 in the London Bombings. The Foundation has been created by family and friends with the intention of continuing the work and vision of Njoya.
Our Events
OTS the event was born from conversations with Young Black Men in the community and our research into their thoughts and needs. We identified a need for a forum where they could meet successful black men who had managed to achieve in the careers they aspired to.
The OTS Team
OTS is run exclusively by volunteers. We give our time to help manage and produce content for the website, organise events, create relationships within the black community and with youth organisations.
